Let’s get this party started

Welcome to our shiny new website. It’s not much, but it’s ours.

I’m still figuring out how to build a website, and how to add all the bells and whistles. For now, I really just wanted to take this opportunity to say hi, and thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll continue to do so, since we’ll be adding more songs in the near future.

I also want to point out that Shiner and Her Lucky Pennies is currently a kind-of band, soon to become an actual band. (I’m a band! A real band!)

The forthcoming album will feature the musical stylings of some really amazing Western Swing players from Texas, as well as some more amazing players from right here in Little Rhody. Soon I will be forming the Rhode Island version of this band, but for now I’d like to thank all the people who are making this album so much fun:

Jack Brown – electric guitar
Richard Burleson – drums (Laughing at Life)
Louie Hallford – pedal steel
Gerald Jones – mandolin, banjo, guitar
Sam Noth – bass
Mike Warner – drums
Randy Pelfrey – engineer on Laughing at Life

And last, but by no means least, there are two other people who really helped make this happen: Phillip Wildman, a great new friend who I met at the Kevin Welch songwriting workshop in 2013, and who pulled together his friends and organized our whirlwind recording session on the 5W Ranch earlier this year; and my talented husband, Ray Gennari. Ray is producing this album, co-writing songs with me, and generally helping me put together a quality product in my first go-round with this sort of thing.

Thanks to the whole gang. Stay tuned for the grand reveal!!

Couldn’t help but smile after reading your story in Quadangles. Some thirty years ago I moved to Austin to pursue graduate studies following my days at URI. I immediately fell in love with the music along with the unique Texas culture and still listen to country western music to this day. You have a lovely voice and sing a unique and interesting genre. Good luck…. I wish you all the best!

Thanks so much for your note, Jim! I will definitely add you to the list when the album is ready!

Hello Dr. Menezes. Just read your info in the Quadangles. I’m a 97 grad in Food Science and CCRI and Johnson & Wales, and North Kingstown Senior High. Next time you and your husband are in Dallas, TX look me up. I’m in Dallas and liking the local music. Try streaming KXT.org. It’s a local PBS station and they play a lot of local bands plus Saturday and Sunday mornings are American Music specific.

  13. Shiner replied:

Thanks for the KXT tip, and for your kind offer!
